LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball head coach Bob Marlin announced Wednesday the addition of Larenz Stalcup, adding him to the roster for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
Stalcup's addition gives the Cajuns five signees for next year, joining Corey Davis (Lafayette, La.), Tyrone Wooten (Memphis, Tenn.), Jerekius Davis (Jackson, Miss.) and Jevonlean Hedgeman (Pearland, Texas).
"Larenz is a long, athletic post player who will help our frontcourt," Marlin said. "He is an active rebounder and shot blocker. We are excited to have him as a part of our program."
A 6-11, 230-pound big man, Stalcup hails from Colorado Springs, Colo. (Wasson HS) and played the last two seasons at Snow College (Utah) where he helped lead the Badgers to an 18-12 record and the semifinals of the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament last season as a sophomore, earning all-SWAC honorable mention honors.
"Larenz has done a great job of improving here at Snow College," Snow head coach Rob Nielson said. "He has a bright future ahead of him and will be a great addition for the Ragin' Cajuns."
He started 28 games for the Badgers last year, averaging 7.7 points, a team-best 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting .502 from the field.
Stalcup reached double figures in scoring 13 times, including a season-high 18 points in a season-opening win over Impact Academy. He had 15 points and a season-high 13 rebounds against nationally-ranked College of Southern Idaho, and also turned in a season-high four blocks and 12 boards in a win over Colorado Northwest Community College.
