Sun Belt Tournament Bracket Set, Cajuns Start Thursday

LAFAYETTE – The No. 10 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team is scheduled to begin play in the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 7 at 2 p.m., at Bobcat Softball Stadium in San Marcos, Texas, the league announced Sunday evening in the official release of the tournament bracket and schedule.

The tournament opens Wednesday, May 6 and continues through Saturday, May 9 at Bobcat Softball Stadium on the campus of Texas State University.
All games on Wednesday and Thursday will be streamed live on SunBeltSports.org. Friday's three games and the 1 p.m., championship game on Saturday will be televised live on ESPN3.
Louisiana (37-8, 20-3 Sun Belt) earned a bye on the opening day and the opponent for Thursday's 2 p.m., contest will be determined by results on Wednesday.
Tournament action gets underway on Wednesday with the opening round contest between No. 5 seed Georgia State (35-20, 14-10) and No. 8 seed Georgia Southern (12-38, 4-20) at 10 a.m. Following that game is the second opening round contest between No. 6 seed ULM (28-20, 10-12) and No. 7 seed UT Arlington (27-27, 8-15) at 12:30 p.m.
Awaiting the winners of those games will be the No. 3 seed Texas State (32-20, 14-6) and No. 4 seed Troy (32-22, 14-9) in the quarterfinals. Troy takes on the GAST-GASO winner at 3 p.m., while Texas State faces the ULM-UTA winner at 5:30 p.m.
The winners of Wednesday's single-elimination games advance to meet the top two seeds, No. 1 Louisiana and No. 2 South Alabama (35-10, 16-4), in double-elimination play beginning on Thursday.
The 10th-ranked Ragin' Cajuns, who picked up the program's 13th regular season SBC championship in the league's 15-year history with a sweep of ULM this weekend, seek to win the conference tournament for the second consecutive season and 13th time in the 16-year history of the event.
