Hayden Named Capital One Academic All-District

Sophomore advances to Academic All-America ballot
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns sophomore Haley Hayden was one of 12 players named on Thursday to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District Softball team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Hayden, a West Monroe, La., native, hit .380 with 11 home runs and 46 RBI during the regular season for the Sun Belt Conference champion Ragin' Cajuns. The converted outfielder entered Louisiana's first game in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament ranked fourth nationally in runs per game and reached base safely in 42 of the Cajuns' 45 games.

An exercise science major with a 3.83 cumulative grade point average, Hayden earned first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors after posting a .418 average in league play with four home runs and 30 RBI while scoring a team-high 39 runs and recording four triples.

The Academic All-District ® teams include student-athletes and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month and in early June.
