Ragin' Cajuns Release 2015 Women's Soccer Schedule

Cajuns looking to build on second-most wins in program history
LAFAYETTE – Nine home matches, including Sun Belt Conference dates against South Alabama, Troy, Texas State and Appalachian State, along with a mid-season tournament at Baylor highlight the 2015 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer schedule which was released on Tuesday.

Louisiana, which finished with a 9-8-2 overall record and 4-4-1 mark in Sun Belt Conference play under head coach Scot Wieland, will face four in-state schools during non-conference play with home matches scheduled against Nicholls State (Aug. 23), Northwestern State (Sept. 6) and Grambling (Sept. 18) along with a road match at McNeese State (Sept. 4).

After hosting in-state opponent Southeastern Louisiana in an exhibition match on Aug. 14, the Ragin' Cajuns will officially kick off the 2015 campaign against Sam Houston State on Aug. 21. Louisiana will open its road schedule with dates at Ole Miss (Aug. 28), Southern Miss (Aug. 30) and McNeese State before returning home to face Northwestern State.

The Ragin' Cajuns will compete in the Baylor Tournament on Sept. 11-13 where they will face UTSA (Sept. 11) and Northern Illinois (Sept. 13). After facing Grambling in the final non-conference home match, Louisiana will close out its non-conference schedule, as it will travel to face Houston on Sept. 20.

Louisiana will open SBC play on Sept. 25 at Georgia Southern before closing out its three-match road trip against Georgia State on Sept. 27. The Ragin' Cajuns will open the home portion of their league slate on Oct. 2 against two-time defending league champion South Alabama before facing Troy on Oct. 4.

After dates at Arkansas State (Oct. 9) and UALR (Oct. 11), Louisiana will host league rivals Texas State (Oct. 16) and Appalachian State (Oct. 18) before concluding the regular-season on Oct. 25 at ULM.

Louisiana returns 22 letterwinners and seven starters, highlighted by All-Sun Belt Conference player Kimberly Grasso (MF, Jr., Houma, La.) and All-Louisiana product Yazmin Montoya (F, Jr., West Covina, Calif.).

Louisiana's nine wins in 2014 were tied for the second-most in program history. The Ragin' Cajuns went 7-2-1 at home in 2014, finishing one win shy of tying the program wins record at the Cajuns Soccer Complex.

On the season, Louisiana totaled 47 goals and 121 points, both program records, to rank as one of the top offenses in the country. Louisiana tied for 20th in the nation in total goals while ranking 39th in total points. The Cajuns were 15th in the country with 2.47 goals per game and 24th with 6.37 points per game.
