Ragin’ Cajuns Golf Releases 2015-16 Schedule

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team will take part in five tournaments this fall and 12 overall as head coach Theo Sliman announced the 2015-16 schedule on Monday.
"Obviously I am very excited to announce our 2015-16 schedule," Sliman said. "Each and every year, a goal of mine as a coach is to keep the strength of schedule one of the best in the nation. I think that we have done that again this year. We will see a variety of teams from a variety of conferences in the fall. We will have an opportunity to face a lot of SEC schools and conference opponents, which will only make us better as we progress through the year."
The squad opens the fall season at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate on Sept. 14-15 in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Cajuns then head to Destin, Fla. (Sept. 26-27) for the Sun Belt Conference Fall Preview.
"The Conference preview in the fall is going to be fun event," Sliman added. "We will have an opportunity to get a look at the course where we will play the conference championship. There will also be a little shakeup in that event as teams will play six and count four. This will show which teams in the conference have a deep lineup."
Following the SBC Fall Preview, Louisiana will make its first appearance in the Cabo Del Sol Invitational (Oct. 4-6) in Cabo, Mexico before closing out the fall with the David Toms Intercollegiate (Oct. 10-11) and The Intercollegiate at the Grove (Oct. 26-27).
The Ragin' Cajuns continue action in the spring with the Oak Hills Invitational (Feb. 8-9) and Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate (Feb. 22-23) before hosting the 31st annual Louisiana Classics (Feb. 29-March 1) at Oakbourne Country Club.
Louisiana wraps up the regular season with the prestigious Border Olympics (March 10-11), the Lone Star Invitational (March 21-22) and the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship (April 4-5).
The 2016 Sun Belt Conference Golf Championship will be held April 17-19 at the Raven Golf Course in Destin, Fla.
"I believe this team is going to enjoy this year's schedule," Sliman said "It's a challenging schedule that will prepare us for the conference tournament and give us a chance to get back into the NCAA tournament. We need to come prepared each week to give our best and come away from each tournament without regrets."
