HATTIESBURG, Miss. - For the seventh straight season, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team will open its season at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate as the squad gets ready to tee off the 2015-16 season on Monday at the par-71, 6,902-yard Hattiesburg Country Club.

"I'm excited to open up the season in Hattiesburg," head coach Theo Sliman said. "This has always been a good event to start the fall with. I am anxious to see our newcomers compete, and also excited to see some of our returners who have had success here get back on the course."

There will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on both Monday and Tuesday. Teams will play the first two rounds on Monday and finish up the tournament on Tuesday with the final round. Live scoring for the event is available on Golfstat.com.

Host Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Jackson State, Little Rock, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Rice, Sam Houston State, South Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana, ULM and UTSA make up the 15-team field.

The Cajuns have finished third or better in three of their last four appearances at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate claiming the tournament championship in 2013.

Junior Fernando Cruz Valle and senior Haraldur Magnus pace the Louisiana lineup. Magnus, a two-time All-Sun Belt selection, has a career 73.15 average with 25 rounds of par or better, while Cruz Valle has carded a 73.63 stroke average in two seasons with the Ragin' Cajuns. Both Magnus and Cruz Valle have posted pair of top 25 finishes at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate.

Senior Christian Verrougstraete along with transfers Ragnar Gardarsson and Andres Navarette round out the lineup for the Cajuns. Gardarsson and Navarette are making their debuts for the Cajuns. Freshman Tristan Elston will also make his debut competing as an individual at the event.

"We will have to see how this new lineup works together and learn and grow as the season progresses," Sliman said. "There is a lot of talent on this year's squad, and I think we will have a good season if the guys continue to learn and apply."

Louisiana is paired with Little Rock, Middle Tennessee and Rice for the first two rounds. For updates and info on Ragin' Cajuns golf, follow the squad on twitter @CajunGolf or check RaginCajuns.com.
