LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team (6-3-1) will look to bounce back after a 2-0 loss at Houston last Sunday when they open Sun Belt Conference play this weekend in the state of Georgia.
The Cajuns will face Georgia Southern at Eagle Field – Erk Park at 6 p.m. (7 p.m. ET) on Friday, Sept. 25. They end the weekend at Georgia State for a noon (1 p.m. ET) kickoff with the Panthers who enter the week in second place in the Sun Belt Conference standings.
Louisiana is off to its best start since the 2003 season when they had the same record through 10 matches.
The remainder of the 2015 season features Sun Belt contests only. The Cajuns closed out non-conference action last week splitting a pair of matches against Grambling State (5-0 win) and the University of Houston (2-0 loss). Junior forward Annika Schmidt paced the offense with three goals and an assist for seven points in the 5-0 victory against Grambling State.

Cajuns Notes
 * Last Friday vs. Grambling State, junior forward Annika Schmidt became the first Cajun to score at least three goals in a match since Yazmin Montoya back on Oct. 18, 2013 vs. Texas State.

* Schmidt is currently fourth in the Sun Belt Conference with 14 points this season (six goals, two assists). Her six goals are third-most in the conference.

* Junior forward Yazmin Montoya sits in sole possession of second place in points (51) and assists (11) in Ragin' Cajuns history. She needs two points and two assists to pass Courtney Hofland as the program's all-time leader in both categories, and two scores to pass Kelli Jestes as the all-time leader in goals.

* Entering the week, Ragin' Cajuns goalkeepers have combined to lead the Sun Belt Conference in saves with 64.

* The Cajuns will look to open Sun Belt play at 1-0 for the first time since 2013. Louisiana is 3-9-3 all-time in Sun Belt Conference match openers.
