Cajuns Split Weekend Conference Road Trip

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team battled back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to tie the match in the second half, but were unable to come away with the victory, falling to host Georgia State, 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The loss evened the Cajuns' (7-4-1, 1-1 SBC) conference record this season.
Georgia State jumped ahead 1-0 in the 14th minute courtesy of a goal by Suzanne Arafa.
The Louisiana defense blocked a shot attempt 23 seconds before the first half horn, keeping it a one-possession match heading into the intermission.
The Cajuns came up with the match's equalizer in the 57th minute off a corner by junior Yazmin Montoya who found sophomore Ashleigh Cade for the score. It was Cade's second goal of the 2015 season.
The match-winning goal by the Panthers was made by Caitlin Ray after the ball was deflected off a Georgia State player at the 66-minute mark.
Freshman goalkeeper Cosette Morche (5-3) made eight saves for the Cajuns on the afternoon.
"We didn't play our best today to finish out the four-day road trip," Ragin' Cajuns head coach Scot Wieland said. "However, we are coming back home with a great road win in conference [at Georgia Southern on Friday]."
Louisiana will be back in action next Friday, Oct. 2 to host Sun Belt Conference foe South Alabama at 7 p.m.
