Cajuns Head North To Compete In A-State Invitational

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field program heads north this weekend for its third meet of the 2015 indoor season when it competes in the A-State Invitational beginning Friday at the ASU Convocation Center.
 
The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday at 10 a.m. with the women's multi-event 55-meter hurdles.  The men's multi-events begin at 10:15 a.m. with the 55-meter dash. Two field events are scheduled for Friday with the men's weight throw and men's long jump each scheduled for 6 p.m. with the women to follow.

Louisiana will join host Arkansas State and Sun Belt Conference foes Little Rock and Georgia State. Alson scheduled to compete in the two-day event is Memphis, Central Arkansas, Harding, Mississippi Valley State, Grambling State, Texas Southern, Southern, Jacksonville State and Southern Arkansas.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns competed at the Aggie Team Invitational last week with the men's team posting a sixth-place finish with the women's team finishing eighth.
 
Junior college transfer Tristan Whitehall, who has the top mark among Sun Belt Conference athletes in the men's shot put, picked up his second individual title last week after posting a mark of 57 feet, 8 ½ inches. Freshman Kyle Baudoin, ranked third overall in the Sun Belt in the pole vault, earned a third-place finish (15-5 ½) with Hanoj Carter finishing third overall in the 60-meter dash (6.88).
 
Jasmin Fusilier, who is third in the SBC in the triple jump and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, earned a pair of top-5 finishes as she placed third in the women's triple jump (40-0) and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.91). Taylor Walker, ranked fourth among SBC athletes in the triple jump, posted a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (39-9 ¾) with Amie Leitko finishing fourth in the weight throw (50-10 ¼).
 
Friday night will also feature three events on the track, beginning with the men's 3,000-meter run at 7:30 p.m. The women will follow at 7:45 before the sprinters take the track for the 200-meter dash at 8 p.m. The day concludes with the distance medley relay at 8:20 p.m.
 
The meet resumes Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with completion of the men's multi-events. Those athletes will compete in 55-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run. Field events begin at 10 a.m. Saturday with the women's triple jump followed by the men. The women's pole vault and men's shot put gets underway at noon.
 
On the track, action begins at 11:30 a.m. with the 55-meter hurdles and 55-meter dash preliminaries. Finals begin at 2 p.m.
