Women's Tennis Finishes Perfect Weekend with 7-0 Win

Cajuns sweep Prairie View A&M to improve to 2-0 this season
PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team completed the weekend sweep of a pair of Texas schools with a 7-0 victory at Prairie View A&M Sunday morning.
The Cajuns (2-0) begin the season with two wins in as many matches for the third consecutive campaign.
Senior Melissa Burckhartt, junior Alexandra Way and sophomores Kelly Drew, Abby Johnson and Elena Sava all improved to 2-0 in singles play with victories on Sunday.
Louisiana took all three doubles matches from Prairie View A&M. Burckhartt and Drew defeated Trinity Randolph and Shaddae FindTey, 6-2. The Cajuns' duo of Johnson and Way teamed to take down Sydney Thomas and Tatiana Ruhl, 6-2. Burckhartt, Drew, Johnson and Way all improved to 2-0 in doubles play through the season's first weekend.
Juliette Clement and Sava prevailed by a final of 6-2 over Neharika Rama and Timara Maxwell as the Cajuns swept the doubles round.
All six singles matches went two sets. Drew defeated Thomas, 6-3, 6-4, while Sava won over Rama, 6-2, 6-4. Johnson swept Randolph, 6-0, 6-0, while Burckhartt won, 6-4, 6-3 over Stacy Lackey. Clement won her match, 6-3, 6-1 against Findley and Way defeated Maxwell 6-0, 6-2.
The Cajuns will travel to Lake Charles to face McNeese State next Wednesday, Jan. 27 for a 4:30 p.m. first serve.
