Cajuns Head West To Compete At McNeese Indoor Invite

LAKE CHARLES – After a solid performance last week, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns indoor track and field team will return to action on Friday (Jan. 29) when it heads west to compete in the Cameron Communications McNeese Indoor II Track and Field Meet at the Ralph O. Ward Rec Complex on the McNeese State campus.

The college portion of the meet will take place on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. with the men's weight throw. The college meet will include men's and women's teams from McNeese State, Louisiana, Northwestern State, Alcorn State and Southeastern Louisiana.

Louisiana picked up three first-place finishes last week at the A-State Invitational as newcomer Angus Sinclair claimed the men's heptathlon title, Jeryl Brazil captured the 55-meter dash and Tyler Hughes the 55-meter hurdles to pace the Ragin' Cajuns.

Danielle Castaldi (800-meters), Claire Hodges (1-mile run) and Taylor Walker (triple jump) each picked up second-place finishes in women's competition for the Ragin' Cajuns with Courtney Musgrove finishing third overall in the 5,000-meters, Alena Hrusoci placing fourth in the 400-meters and Anna Devitt fourth in the 1-mile run.

Sinclair is scheduled to compete in the shot put, long jump and pole vault for the Ragin' Cajuns and freshman Kyle Baudoin will participate in the pole vault. Christian Bergeron, Cole Stafford and Jacob Chicola will all compete in the 1-Mile Run for Louisiana, with Bryce Robinson, Sean Bezdek, Corbett Ourso, Trey Bonin and Dylan Heck slated to run the 3,000-meters.

Castaldi is slated to compete in the 800-meter run for Louisiana along with teammate Kaylei Esfeller. Julianna Brooks will compete in the 3,000-meter run for the Ragin' Cajuns with Lindsay LaGarde, Courtney Broussard and Hailey Hesterman all competing in the 1-Mile Run.

The trio of Alexandra Harrell, Kaitlyn Moreau and Alex Morrow will compete in both the women's shot put and long jump for the Ragin' Cajuns, with Taylor Walker set to compete in the triple jump along with Amie Leitko, Tisay Woodhouse and Tamela Young in both the weight throw and the shot put.
