LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball kicks off a four-match homestand at Earl K. Long Gym on Wednesday, facing Southeastern Louisiana in a non-conference match at 6:30 p.m.

The first 75 kids in attendance will receive a free Ragin' Cajuns volleyball, courtesy of McDonald's.

The Ragin' Cajuns (5-13, 2-2 Sun Belt) will be playing their final non-conference match of the season. Sun Belt Conference play resumes, and the homestand continues, on Saturday against ULM.

Matches with SLU (2-13, 1-2 Southland) and ULM this week begin the four-match homestand. The final half of the homestand takes place next week with SBC rematches against Arkansas State (Oct. 14) and Little Rock (Oct. 16).

The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off of consecutive 1-1 weekends to begin Sun Belt play. Louisiana split last week's Arkansas road trip, topping Little Rock in five sets and falling to reigning league champion Arkansas State in three sets.

Chanelle Gardner and Stacey Reilly enter the homestand eyeing personal milestones. Gardner needs five kills for her 900th career tally, while Reilly is three kills shy of establishing a new single-season best figure.

Gardner, who returned to action last weekend after missing the previous four matches with an injury, owns 895 career kills which places her in fourth place on the school's rally scoring era chart. She has the opportunity to become only the third individual to reach 900 kills in the rally era (2001-present) and would join Lesley Mirarchi (953 kills) and Elizabeth Inman (927 kills) on the list.

Reilly, who at the season's halfway point already has 248 kills, is on the verge of surpassing her current single-season best of 250 set as a freshman in 2014. The Houston native has produced double digits in 15 of 18 matches.

Libero Sydney Davis averaged 5.56 digs per set over the first two weekends of Sun Belt play. She currently has 293 digs, leaving her seven shy of reaching 300 for the second straight season (376 as a freshman in 2015).

Louisiana, 4-3 over the last three weeks of play, seeks to continue to build momentum in a place where they've played their best this season. The squad sports a .233 hitting percentage at Earl K. Long Gym this season, hitting above .200 in all but one of seven matches.

The Ragin' Cajuns have seen a jump in the number of digs the past two weeks as the return of McKenzie John, and insertion of Hannah Henry, has further strengthened the back row. Louisiana has hauled in 17.12 digs per set over the past four matches.

Head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot praised the defensive efforts at her weekly press conference on Monday, but suggested she like to see the squad increase its blocking totals.

Southeastern is led offensively by Parrie Hartley (2.02 kills per set), Chloee Holden (2.00 k/set), and Elyssa Purcell (1.94 k/set, 4.02 assists per set).

Monica Ramon (3.72 digs per set), Madi Odom (2.60 d/set), Macey Stock (2.33 d/set) and Purcell (2.22 d/set) are Southeastern's top defenders along the back line.

Louisiana and Southeastern Louisiana are meeting for the second straight season. The Ragin' Cajuns visited Hammond on Sept. 29, 2015 and rallied from an 0-2 match deficit to win in five sets (23-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-13). Sara Mossakowski led the team's efforts that night with a career-high 20 kills.

The Lions are visiting Earl K. Long Gym for the first time since Sept. 7, 2010. The Ragin' Cajuns posted a 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-20) sweep of the contest behind 50 kills and a .268 attacking percentage.

Coach Mazeitis-Fontenot's Thoughts
"We are excited to be at home for the next four matches. Even more importantly we would like to show our fans the growth that this team continues to show.

Their tenacity and ability to keep moving forward is really a testament to the incredible maturity of this team."
