Dates Set for Softball's First Fall Scrimmages

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball announced the first two intrasquad scrimmages of the Fall 2016 season that will be open to the public.

The Ragin' Cajuns will conduct split-squad doubleheaders on the following dates:

Sunday, Oct. 9 – 3:00/5:00 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 14 – 2:00/4:00 p.m.

Donations of canned goods and other non-perishable food items, to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank, will be collected at the main entrance of Lamson Park.

Following the two scrimmages, the Ragin' Cajuns play their only Lamson Park exhibition game of the fall campaign on Monday, Oct. 17 hosting the National ProFastpitch's USSSA Pride in a 6 p.m. contest.

Advance tickets – $100 VIP package which includes five tickets and a parking pass – for the matchup with the USSSA Pride remain on sale through Monday, Oct. 10 at Noon at the Cajundome Box Office. Individual game tickets go on sale on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Ragin' Cajuns Softball has won three straight Sun Belt Conference championships and 14 overall in the 16 years of league competition since 2001. The program has appeared in the NCAA Tournament 18 consecutive years and 26 times overall in the past 27 years dating back to 1990. Last season, the Ragin' Cajuns hosted an NCAA Regional at Lamson Park for the fourth time in the past five years (2012, 2014-16) and advanced to an NCAA Super Regional for the fifth straight year (2012-16).
