Jan. 2 contest is one of two SBC games slated for national audience

NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana at Little Rock men's basketball game on Monday, January 2, will tip off at 7 p.m. CT and will be aired live on ESPN2. The nationally-televised Sun Belt Conference game is one of two regular-season contests the network will air this season, with the other on Jan. 16.

The matchup between the Ragin' Cajuns (8-2) and Trojans (8-2) pits two of the past three winners of the Sun Belt men's basketball tournament. They are two of the hottest teams in the nation right now as Louisiana has won eight in a row and Little Rock five in a row.

The Sun Belt was the first conference to join with ESPN beginning with the 1979 men's basketball season. This season, in total, 125 Sun Belt Conference men's and women's basketball games will be telecast live on ESPN networks and available for streaming through WatchESPN and the ESPN app.

Louisiana's eight-game winning streak is tied for the fourth-longest winning streak in the country with No. 4 Baylor, No. 5 Duke and No. 16 South Carolina. The Ragin' Cajuns rank in the top 25 in the country in field goal percentage, scoring offense, rebound margin, turnovers forced and free throws made.

Little Rock is coming off its best season in program history and was picked to finish second in the Sun Belt preseason coaches poll. Last season, Little Rock won the Sun Belt Conference regular-season and tournament championships and beat No. 5 seed Purdue in the NCAA Tournament first round. All five Little Rock starters are averaging double figures in scoring this season for the first time since Little Rock finished the 1989-90 season with all five starters averaging in double figures.

Sun Belt men's basketball will continue to have a prime viewing slot on Selection Sunday with the championship game of the men's basketball tournament set to air at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN2 on Sunday, March 12. All other games of the men's basketball championship will be shown on ESPN3.
