Louisiana opens two-game homestand looking for seventh straight win

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team takes a brief break from finals on Wednesday when it faces in-state opponent Loyola of New Orleans in a 7 p.m. contest at the Cajundome.
 
The game can be heard in the Lafayette area on KHXT 107.9-FM and ESPN 1420-AM, and on the Radio Pup app. Live video and live statistics will be available at RaginCajuns.com. Tickets are available at the Cajundome Box Office.
 
Louisiana (6-2), which leads the Sun Belt Conference in seven categories, erased a 14-point first-half deficit with a 28-1 run en route to claiming its sixth straight victory in a 92-72 win at McNeese State on Saturday. Jay Wright (28 points) and Johnathan Stove (20 points) each recorded career highs for the Ragin' Cajuns with Frank Bartley adding 21 points.
 
Bartley, the second-leading scorer in the Sun Belt Conference, leads the Ragin' Cajuns with a 19.3 average with Wright (14.5), Bryce Washington (14.4) and freshman Justin Miller (10.9) averaging in double figures. Washington, who hauled in a career-best 15 rebounds against McNeese, leads the Sun Belt Conference with 11.5 caroms per game with Miller (5.3), Stove (4.1) and redshirt freshman Jerekius Davis (3.6) following.
 
The game for Loyola (8-2), which has won six straight games, will count as an exhibition game for the Wolf Pack. Nick Parker (15.2), Johnny Griffin, Jr. (14.2) and Jalen Gray (11.5) are the top scorers for Loyola, which is averaging 77.1 points per game.
 
Louisiana claimed last year's contest at the Cajundome, 106-62, as Shawn Long scored 25 points to lead five players in double figures.
