Women's Tennis to Play Saturday Doubleheader at Home

Cajuns (4-1) host South Alabama, No. 67 NC State on Saturday, Feb. 13
LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team (4-1) look to extend their win streak to three matches when they host South Alabama and 67th-ranked North Carolina State at Cajun Courts this Saturday, Feb. 13. The match against South Alabama will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the matchup against NC State will commence at 1:30 p.m.
The Cajuns are coming off a 6-1 victory last Sunday against Jackson State, tallying their first 4-1 start since the 2010 season.
Louisiana boasts a 21-9 record (.700 winning percentage) in singles play this season. Senior Melissa Burckhartt, junior Alexandra Way and sophomore Kelly Drew each own 4-1 records this spring. Sophomore Abby Johnson has three singles victories, while junior Dana Brankovic has a perfect 2-0 mark.
The Cajuns have found similar success in doubles play, having won nine of 10 matches this season. The duo of Johnson and Way are 4-0, while senior Juliette Clement and sophomore Elena Sava have teamed up for a 2-0 start. Burckhartt and Drew have won three of four doubles matches together in 2016.
South Alabama enters Saturday with a record of 5-3 and are winners of their last four matches. Freshman Alexandra Stiteler was named the Sun Belt's co-Athlete of the Week after starting the season with a 5-1 record at No. 1 singles.
North Carolina State is ranked 67th nationally with a 3-0 record entering Friday. They will play at No. 13 LSU on Friday before making their way to Lafayette.
