Cajuns wrap up Lone Star swing with Saturday matinee against Bobcats
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team will wrap up a two-game trip through the state of Texas on Saturday when it faces Sun Belt Conference rival Texas State at Strahan Coliseum.

Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. and will follow the women's game between Louisiana and Texas State at 2 p.m. The game can be heard in the Lafayette area on both Hot 107.9 and ESPN 1420-AM.

Louisiana (14-10, 10-5 Sun Belt) looks to rebound from an 84-83 overtime loss at UT Arlington on Thursday, despite a season-high tying 28 points and 18 rebounds from Shawn Long. Kasey Shepherd added 16 points for the Ragin' Cajuns with Jay Wright (13) and Johnathan Stove (12) scoring in double figures.

Long is averaging 19.3 points to lead Louisiana and is third nationally in rebounds (13.1). The senior recorded his 19th double-double of the season – fifth-best in the nation – and his 71st of his career after going 10-for-16 from the floor against the Mavs.

Shepherd is next in scoring for the Cajuns, averaging 11.4 points per game, with Wright (9.3), Stove (8.8) and Bryce Washington (7.6) next in the scoring column. As a team, Louisiana is averaging 81.4 points per game, tops in the Sun Belt Conference, while ranking second in the league in rebound margin (+7.8).

Texas State (10-13, 4-10 Sun Belt) dropped a 76-57 decision to ULM on Thursday as the Bobcats trailed 39-20 at halftime after going 7-for-21 (33.3 percent) from the floor. Cameron Naylor posted a double-double for Texas State with 16 points and 10 rebounds with Emani Gant adding 14 points.

Gant paces Texas State with 12.9 points and 7.4 rebounds with Kavin Gilder-Tilbury (12.2 ppg.) and Ethan Montalvo (10.7 ppg.) next in scoring. The Bobcats average 65.4 points per game overall and 62.8 points in Sun Belt play.
