Arthur Libaud and Edgar Lopez finish a combined 4-0 to take down Presbyterian College on Sunday

LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team received a huge lift from senior Edgar Lopez and freshman Arthur Libaud, who combined to go 4-0 to lift Louisiana to a 4-2 win over Presbyterian College on Sunday at Cajun Courts.

The Cajuns (6-6) swept doubles over Presbyterian College. Libaud and sophomore Vlad Kramarov defeated Diego Manzanas and Alejandro Bejar, 6-0 at No. 3. Lopez and junior Eric Perez closed out doubles with a 6-2 victory at No. 2 over Danny Bruce and Ben Kelley.

In singles, Brandon Mills defeated Perez, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot, while Manzanas prevailed over Kramarov, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. The Cajuns came back to win the final three singles rounds to take the victory. At No. 3, senior Jake Wynan eliminated Bruce, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3, while Lopez took down Bejar in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2. Libaud closed out the afternoon with a hard fought, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win over Alexandra Lykou.

"Give credit to Presbyterian for fighting hard today when their backs were against the wall," Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "They did a good job of hanging in the match.

"Today I saw Arthur [Libaud] play the best set of tennis all year and it was at a crucial point in the match," Jeffrey added. "Arthur actually took the match away from them [Presbyterian College]. He performed well when we needed him. We had another solid win for Edgar [Lopez]. He played well enough to come out on top. I was also happy for Jake [Wynan] as he was able to win his second match in a row - the top of the lineup performed and did their job today."

Libaud improved to 6-4 in singles with the win today, while Lopez moved to 5-2. The doubles team of Lopez and Perez raised its record to a team-best 7-5 mark this season.

The Cajuns return to the court next Tuesday, March 1 for a match against Stetson. First serve is set for 2:45 p.m. at Cajun Courts.
