New Orleans native will have two years of eligibility remaining
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball coach Bob Marlin added his fifth overall signee to the 2016-17 squad when junior college transfer Curtiss Anderson signed a National Letter of Intent in an announcement on Thursday.
Â
Anderson, a 6-foot-8 forward, will have two years of eligibility remaining. Anderson is the fifth overall signee for the Ragin' Cajuns as he joins P.J. Hardy (Lake Charles, La.), Justin Miller (Owensboro, Ky.), Roydell Brown (New Orleans, La.) and Herman Williams (Marianna, Fla.).
Â
"Curtiss is an athletic forward who will provide instant rebounding and defense around the rim," Marlin said. "He is a good face-up player from 17 feet, and he has added a low post game. He was an AAU teammate with (current Ragin' Cajuns forward) Bryce Washington and he is expected to contribute immediately."
Â
A native of New Orleans, Anderson averaged 9.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game as a sophomore at Western Texas College – the same school that produced former Ragin' Cajuns Devonta Walker and Tiremone Williams. As a freshman at WTC, Anderson averaged 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 15 games off the bench.
Â
Anderson helped East Jefferson High School to the Louisiana Class 4A state title as a senior in 2014, where he averaged 12.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.4 blocks while shooting 58 percent from the floor. He was named to the honorable mention Class 4A all-state team.
