DESTIN, Fla. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team saw its season come to an end on Tuesday as the Cajuns finished in ninth with a 54-hole score of 32-over par (884) at the 2016 Sun Belt Conference Championship hosted at the par-71, 6,887-yard Raven Golf Course.

"This was a disappointing end to a disappointing spring," head coach Theo Sliman said. "I expected us to compete better than we did. We need to go back to the drawing board and hit the recruiting trail to find some guys who are ready to compete. We weren't lacking in physical talent. Mentally we weren't strong enough to get it done this spring. I personally need to do some self-evaluation as the ultimate leader of this program. I'm confident that we can get things turned around and headed in the right direction again."

Georgia State finished stroke play with the highest team score posting a three round total of 4-under (848). Troy (+2, 854), Arkansas State (+3, 855) and South Alabama (+10, 862) also qualified for match play at the SBC Championship.

Georgia State's Maximilian Herrmann won a playoff against teammate J.J. Grey and Troy's Calum Masters to win the individual title. Herrmann carded a final round 67 (-4) to finish stroke play with an overall score of 3-under (210).

Senior Haraldur Magnus turned in the Cajuns top performance of the tournament finishing in a tie for 15th at 3-over (216) after recording a round of 71 (E) in the final round. Magnus had just one blemish on his card to go along with one birdie on the day. The top 25 performance is the tenth of the season for Magnus and the 26th of his career.

Junior Fernando Cruz Valle placed in a tie for 29th at 8-over (221), while Triston Elston finished in 44th at 12-over (225). Ragnar Gardarsson and Paul San capped the scoring for Louisiana with Gardarsson placing 48th at 16-over (229) and San finishing 54th at 23-over (236).
