Cajuns Visit San Marcos to take on Texas State Friday

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team begins the final stretch of its 2016 regular-season spring schedule beginning Friday as the Ragin' Cajuns will face Sun Belt Conference opponents Texas State and Arkansas State at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

Louisiana (8-9) gets the weekend underway with Texas State (7-10) this Friday, April 8 for a 1:30 first serve. The Ragin' Cajuns will conclude their weekend slate on Saturday facing Arkansas State at 10 a.m.

Junior Alexandra Way has won her last two outings in singles play, and brings a 7-3 record to San Marcos. The seven singles victories are tied with senior Melissa Burckhartt and Kelly Drew for the team lead.

In doubles, the Cajuns boast a 23-13 mark with three duos posting seven wins or more. Senior Juliette Clement and sophomore Elena Sava have teamed up for a team-best eight wins for the Ragin' Cajuns. Burckhartt and Drew (7-3), along with the tandem of Way and sophomore Abby Johnson (7-6), have attributed towards 14 doubles wins in 2016.

Texas State enters Friday with a 7-10 mark this season with just three of those matches coming at home (1-2).

Katy Collins and Ana Perez have each recorded a team-high eight wins apiece in singles play this season to lead the Bobcats. Collins has played with two doubles pairings this year, with six wins with each team. She and Eva Dench are 6-6 this season, while she and Ammaarah Tim boast the best doubles record among Bobcats with a 6-2 mark.
