Trosclair Earns Final Sun Belt Player Of The Week Honor

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball senior Stefan Trosclair became the third player on the squad to earn Sun Belt Player of the Week honors this season after guiding the Cajuns to a share of the Sun Belt Conference regular season championship, the league office announced on Monday.
 
Trosclair joins Kyle Clement (Feb. 23) and Joe Robbins (April 18) as the Ragin' Cajuns players to earn the award this season. Dylan Moore (March 15) and Evan Guillory (April 11) also earned SBC weekly honors as they were named Pitcher of the Week this year.
 
"I'm glad for Stefan to be recognized for his efforts last week," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "Even though times got tough, he got tougher and continued to work and stay grinding, and now the game is paying him back for his hard work and effort. He never let his struggles change his approach, and because of that we were able to catch South Alabama and keep our season goals intact. I can't be more proud of him to receive this honor."
 
Trosclair hit .444 (8-for- 18) on the week with three doubles, two triples a home run and eight RBI while slugging 1.000 with a .474 on base percentage. The senior posted multiple hits and RBI in three of the four games on the week.
 
With a share of the conference championship on the line in game two of the ULM series, Trosclair came up with the walk-off winning RBI double in the 11th inning to lift the Cajuns to a 6-5 victory. Trosclair then drove in three runs in the series finale to guide the Cajuns to a sweep of ULM and a share of the regular season crown.
 
The Sulphur, La., native tied a school record with two triples in game two of the series. Trosclair raised his average from .257 to a season-best .273 after the four-game week.
 
On the season, Trosclair has 13 doubles, four triples and six home runs to go with 32 RBI and 42 runs scored.
 
Louisiana returns to action at the 2016 Sun Belt Conference tournament on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. as the squad face eight-seeded Arkansas State.
