Volleyball Set for Red-White Scrimmage on Saturday

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball is holding its annual Red-White Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m., inside Earl K. Long Gym.

Admission is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 10 a.m.

Fans have an opportunity to get their first glance at the 2016 Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team during the scrimmage, which will consist of three sets. Following the scrimmage fans will be able to meet the team and take pictures with the players.

Earl K. Long Gym is located at 500 E. St. Mary Blvd., on UL Lafayette's main campus. Parking is available in both lots surrounding the gym.

The Ragin' Cajuns, entering the ninth season under the direction of head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot, are currently in their second week of preseason camp in preparation for the upcoming 2016 season which begins Friday-Saturday, Aug. 26-27 in Houston at the Marriott Houston WestChase Invitational hosted by Houston Baptist.

The 2016 home opener at Earl K. Long Gym takes place at 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 30 vs. Northwestern State. The NSU match starts a five-match homestand that also features the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Volleyball Classic (Sept. 2-3) and a midweek contest with McNeese State (Sept. 6).
