Games against Louisiana Tech, Pepperdine part of balanced 16-game home schedule

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team will play four games at Blackham Coliseum during the 2016-17 schedule, while traveling to face Minnesota and Georgia, along with playing Louisiana Tech and Pepperdine at home as the Ragin' Cajuns non-conference schedule was announced on Wednesday.

Louisiana will also pay visits to Montana State, James Madison, McNeese State and New Orleans during the non-conference schedule while hosting Nicholls State (Dec. 1) and Loyola (Dec. 7) at the newly-renovated Cajundome.

"This schedule is much more balanced than last year when we started with six of our first nine games on the road, along with five of the first six (Sun Belt) conference games," head coach Bob Marlin said. "We had situations last year where we had three games in a row on the road and then two trips with four straight road games.

"This year, we only go out on the road for three straight games at the end of the season with (SBC) games at ULM, Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State."

The Ragin' Cajuns will return to Blackham Coliseum for the first time since the 2015 CollegeInsider.com Tournament when it hosts West Florida in an exhibition game on Nov. 3. Louisiana will face Oklahoma Panhandle State in its home opener on Nov. 17 and will host Delaware State (Nov. 21) and Texas Southern (Nov. 27) at Blackham – its home from 1950-84 – before facing in-state opponent Nicholls State at the Cajundome.

"We feel like we've put together a challenging schedule highlighted by 16 home dates," Marlin said. "Tentatively, the first three regular-season games, plus an exhibition will be played in Blackham Coliseum which should be interesting and exciting for our fans. We look forward to playing in Blackham before moving into the new Cajundome."

Louisiana will officially tip off the 2016-17 season on Nov. 11 at Minnesota before traveling to Bozeman, Mont., to face Montana State on Nov. 14. The Ragin' Cajuns will host Louisiana Tech on Dec. 10 at the Cajundome before wrapping up non-conference play on Dec. 20 against Pepperdine.

Season tickets are available by calling the Cajundome Box Office at (337) 265-2357 or visiting RaginCajuns.com/Tickets.
