Cajuns open 115th season of football against MWC member Broncos
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football team opens its 115th season on Saturday, Sept.3, when it faces Mountain West opponent Boise State at Cajun Field.
Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be televised on the American Sports Network. The game can also be heard statewide on the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Radio Network.
Under sixth-year head coach Mark Hudspeth, Louisiana looks to rebound from an uncharacteristic 4-8 season - the school's first non-winning season since 2010. The Ragin' Cajuns return 46 letterwinners and 15 starters, including All-SBC Preseason First-Team selection Savion Brown and three-time All-SBC pick Elijah McGuire.
The Ragin' Cajuns will have a new quarterback under center this season as LSU transfer Anthony Jennings claimed the starting job after entering in fall camp. Jennings, who has one year of eligibility remaining, won nine games as a sophomore in 2014.
On the defensive side, Brown returns at cornerback and will join senior Otha Peters in forming a defense that returns veterans Karmichael Dunbar, Trey Granier, Tracy Walker, Travis Crawford and Taboris Lee.
Louisiana opens the season with three consecutive home games - the first time since 1988 - as it will host Boise State, McNeese State and South Alabama before traveling to face Tulane on Sept. 24 in New Orleans.
