Cajuns Open Play At John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic

Day two action begins at 9 a.m.; doubles to start at 2:30 p.m.
LAFAYETTE - Freshman Pearse Dolan claimed the opening set in his debut match against Texas' Colin Markes, but dropped a three-set decision as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team opened play at the 2016 John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic on Thursday at the Culotta Tennis Center.
Action resumes on Friday with the consolation bracket at 9 a.m., followed by Championship singles play at 10:30. The second day of the four-day, eight-team event will see the first round of doubles play that begins at 2 p.m.
Admission is free and open to the public. Free spectator parking is available next to Cajun Field (West Lots A-B).
Dolan, a native of Sydney, Australia, dropped a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 decision to Markes in the opening round. The remaining five Ragin' Cajuns entered in the meet dropped straight-set decisions in the opening round as they faced five of the top eight seeds.
Freshman Jamie Fraser dropped a 6-2, 6-2 to top-seeded William Bushamuka of Kentucky with Coleman Wahlborg falling to fifth-seeded Alex Sendegeya of Texas Tech, 7-5, 6-1. Vlad Kramarov fell to sixth-seeded Thibault Forget of USC, 6-2, 6-2, Eric Perez dropped a 7-5, 6-1 contest to eighth-seeded John Mee of Texas while Arthur Libaud fell to fourth-seeded Harrison Scott of Texas, 6-2, 2-0 (retired).
Freshman Silvio Cocito-Monoc dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to LSU's Julian Saborio in the consolation bracket.
Louisiana, which finished 17-10 last season, will open doubles play on Friday with Dolan and Kramarov facing Texas Tech's Connor Curray and Carlos Di Laura at 2:30 p.m. Fraser and Libaud will team together for the first time when they face Mee and Scott at 2:30 p.m., with Perez and Wahlborg facing Oklahoma State's duo of Tristan Meraut and Lukas Finzelberg. Michael Kritzinger will team with Tim Sandkaulen of Ole Miss and will face the top-seeded duo of Jordan Daigle and Justin Butsch of LSU at 2:30 p.m.
