NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference, in partnership with the American Cancer Society and Coaches vs. Cancer, will participate in "Suits and Sneakers" week on Jan. 26 and 28 to raise awareness and donations in support of Appalachian State women's basketball head coach Angel Elderkin's fight against endometrial cancer.

In addition, the conference has teamed up with Coaches vs. Cancer to launch its 2017 3-Point Challenge. Each school will compete to raise the most funds by pledging donations for every 3-point shot their team makes in the month of February, with all proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society to fund innovative research and patient services. The winner of the conference's challenge will be crowned the Sun Belt 3-Point Champion and all participating schools are entered into the national contest for a chance to earn the national 3-Point College Champion honor.

Fans can pledge donations by visiting the Sun Belt Conference Women's Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Challenge website here: https://pledgeit.org/matchup/cvc-sunbelt-women. Each school's individual donation page is also listed below.

All student-athletes and coaches will wear black and peach colored t-shirts during warm ups and prior to tip off of games on Jan. 26 and 28 to show their unity in support of Elderkin. All Sun Belt Conference women's basketball coaches will also don suits and sneakers and peach-colored ribbons for those games. Host institutions for those two dates have also partnered with the American Cancer Society to accept donations and provide awareness on cancer prevention, early detection and healthy lifestyle choices for all fans in attendance.

Elderkin was first diagnosed with endometrial cancer in May of last year. Through courage, dedication and steadfast will, Elderkin coached the Mountaineers through the preseason and into the start of November's regular season while undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatment. Elderkin, whose mother passed away from cancer, finished her final treatment in November and was announced as the co-recipient with ESPN's Holly Rowe of the USBWA Pat Summitt Most Courageous Award and will be honored at the women's Final Four in Dallas in April.
