Cajuns Dominant In Tennis Sweep Of Jackson State

Louisiana continues 10-match home stand with Sunday doubleheader against Alcorn
LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team opened its home schedule in a dominant fashion, earning 7-0 and 6-1 wins over Jackson State in Saturday's doubleheader at Cajun Courts.
Louisiana (3-2) claimed the doubles point in both matches, sweeping in all six matches. The duo of Vlad Kramarov and Pearse Dolan at No. 1 shut out JSU's pairing of Alawi Andrey and Stylianos Gkontsaris, 6-0, and came back to win the second doubles match over Joan Sanson and Federico Ruiz, 7-5.
Freshman Pearse Dolan set the tone early in both singles rounds, claiming quick victories of 6-2, 6-0 over Sanson, and a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 win over Fritz Jacob at No. 2. The rest of the Cajuns would soon follow. Senior Coleman Wahlborg played two hard fought three-set matches against Andrey, winning one but dropping the second.
At No. 3 singles, Arthur Libaud also had a strong showing, winning his two matches by scores of 6-2, 6-1 over Jacob, and a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sanson. Senior Eric Perez notched wins in singles at No. 4, and in doubles at both No. 2 and No. 3.
Vlad Kramarov, Jamie Frasier, and Elio Lago each held comfortable leads in their singles wins as well. At No. 4, Kramarov won by a score of 6-3, 6-1. Fraser won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5, and Lago, at No 6., also won 6-3, 6-1.
A few Cajuns got their first triumphs of the spring tennis season. At No. 5, freshman Silvio Cocito-Monoc, defeated Stylianos Gkontsaris, 6-2, 6-2. Sophomore Michael Kritzinger also was victorious against JSU's Ryan Swanier at No. 6.
Louisiana will host another doubleheader on Sunday (Jan. 21) against Alcorn State. The first match will start at 10 a.m., and the second match will follow at 2 p.m. Admission to both matches is free and live stats will be available at www.CajunStats.com.
