Cajuns return to action after two-week layoff

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team returns to action when it heads north to Jonesboro, Ark., to compete in the A-State Invitational that begins on Friday at the Convocation Center.
 
Competition begins on Friday at 4 p.m. with field events before running events start at 6. Action continues on Saturday with field events starting at 11 a.m., and running events at 11:30. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com.

Joining Louisiana and host Arkansas State in the meet are: Arkansas Baptist, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Christian Brothers, Grambling, Harding, Little Rock, Memphis, Missouri State and Southern Arkansas.
 
Louisiana returns to action after competing at the Aggie Team Invitational on Jan. 13 in College Station, Texas. The Ragin' Cajuns recorded four first-place finishes in the 12-team event as Kyle Baudoin set a meet record in the men's pole vault, clearing 16 feet, 7 ¼ inches.
 
Beau Robinson (15:00.09, 5,000-meter run) and Stanley Limoh (4:15.94, 1-mile run) each claimed top honors in their particular events while ranking first and second, respectively, in the Sun Belt Conference.
 
Ricky Theyard enters the A-State Invitational ranked second overall in the Sun Belt Conference in the men's triple jump (48-6 ¼) with Baudoin, Richard Delphin (56-10 ¼, men's weight throw), Tristan Whitehall (56-6, men's shot put) and Taylor Walker (39-11 ¼, women's triple jump) ranked third.
 
Freshman Damon Guidry posted the fourth-best mark among SBC athletes in the men's high jump (6-8 ¼) with Angus Sinclair (6-8 ¼) and Franz Beyer (6-8 ¼) ranked fifth. In the men's 5,000-meter run, Dylan Heck posted the fifth-fastest time (15:42.71) in the Sun Belt Conference with Meredith Driskell posting the sixth-best mark (12-3 ¼) in the women's pole vault.
 
Lindsay LaGarde, who set a personal-best in the women's 3,000-meter run (10:29.90), ranks sixth in the Sun Belt Conference with Whitehall ranked seventh in the men's weight throw (54-6 ¾).
