Cajuns Ready For Matchup With Little Rock

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team faces a tall task when it welcomes Little Rock to the Cajundome on Saturday for a Sun Belt Conference showdown.

Louisiana (11-6, 5-3 SBC) is fresh off a 72-60 win over Arkansas State on Thursday and is looking to avenge a 64-60 defeat at Little Rock earlier this season.
 
Little Rock (14-6, 8-0 SBC), which is the only remaining undefeated team in Sun Belt Conference play, is coming off a 92-47 win over ULM on Thursday.
 
Louisiana is led in scoring by senior guard Jaylyn Gordon (18.1 ppg). Gordon leads the Sun Belt Conference in points per game and three-point field goals made per game (2.8). She leads the nation in minutes play per game (39.0).

Junior Simone Fields is sixth in the league in scoring (15.1 ppg) and first in field goal percentage (.563). Freshman Jasmine Thomas (11.0 ppg), junior Troi Swain (9.1 ppg), senior Gabby Alexander (5.9 ppg) and junior Nekia Jones (5.3 ppg) are all key contributors for the Cajuns.

Little Rock is led in scoring by senior guard Sharde' Collins (15.4 ppg). Senior Kaitlyn Pratt (14.3 ppg) and freshman Kyra Collier (8.3 ppg) also lead the Trojans in scoring.

Junior Monique Townson is first in the league in assists per game (4.4) and first in free throw percentage (.865). The Trojans are coached by Joe Foley, who is in his 14th season as head coach.

Little Rock leads the all-time series with Louisiana 20-9, dating back to 2000. The Trojans have won eight of the past nine contests with the Cajuns. Little Rock posted a 64-60 win over Louisiana in the last meeting, which was held on December 29, 2016 in Little Rock, Ark.

Next up, Louisiana will hit the road to face Georgia Southern on Thursday, Feb. 2 in Statesboro, Ga. The Cajuns will then travel to play Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 4 in Atlanta, Ga.
