LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot announced Friday the addition of Hali Wisnoskie to the program's 2017 roster.
Â
Wisnoskie, an outside hitter who graduated from Columbus (Texas) High School in December, has enrolled at UL Lafayette for the spring 2017 semester and is eligible to compete with the team in the non-championship segment which opens Feb. 20.
Â
The Texas Association of Volleyball Coaches (TAVC) Class 4A Hitter of the Year in 2016, Wisnoskie totaled 2,401 kills, 357 blocks, 1,003 digs, 110 aces and 395 assists during her four-year career in Columbus.
Â
"We are very excited for Hali to join our roster early," Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot said. "To be able to add a spring to her experience before she enters her first fall season is crucial for our team."
Â
Wisnoskie tallied 700-plus kills in each of her final two prep seasons. She posted a career-best 753 kills as a senior in 2016, the sixth-highest figure nationally according to MaxPreps, propelling her to a third consecutive all-state honor.
Â
She was a Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-Star game participant in 2015 and 2016 and also took home district MVP honors those seasons.
Â
Wisnoskie entered her senior season on the preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association Under Armour All-American Watch List and was a member of the TAVC's Fab 50.
Â
The 6-foot-2 product played for the Columbus Classics and TexStar Volleyball on the club level. She was a two-time national qualifier with TexStar.
Â
"She has the size that we need, she's an amazing athlete and is a very good student," Mazeitis-Fontenot remarked. "Her best volleyball is definitely ahead of her and the sky is the limit for this young lady."
Â
The 2017 season will mark the Ragin' Cajuns' 10th season under the guidance of Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot. Louisiana returns its kills leader (Stacey Reilly), starting setter (Jessica Bartczyszyn) and digs leader (Sydney Davis) from the 2016 season.
