Â
LAFAYETTE, La. - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team opened its five-week fall practice period on Monday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park as the Cajuns gear up for a challenging 2018 season.
Â
The fall practice session continues through November 1 and wraps up with the annual Fall World Series. All workouts and intrasquads are open to the public with practices beginning daily at 1:30 p.m.
Â
Louisiana has been busy for the last month engaging in strength and conditioning drills as well as individual workouts on the field.
Â
"It's good for us to finally be able to get in 20 hours of work each week in order to prepare for the tough schedule that we will face in the spring," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "I know the guys are ready to finally be able to compete against each other with the intrasquads, and it will also be good for us coaches to evaluate where we are as a team. You can only get so much out of practice and at some point you need to be able to have competition. This is a big time for us to get those new players in our program caught up to the speed of the game at the Division I level."
Â
The Fall World Series is set for October 30 – November 1 at Russo Park. Each game is open to the public and times will be announced later this month.
Â
Fans interested in joining the Ragin' Cajuns  Diamond Club can do so by emailing cajunbaseball@cox-internet.com or calling (337) 262-5189.
