Cajuns Make Final Road Trip, Head To ULM and Texas State

10/4/2017 9:42:00 AM | Soccer

LAFAYETTE – For one last time in the 2017 season the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer team will make a weekend road trip, as they'll head to ULM on Thursday, Oct. 5 with the match starting at 4 p.m. and they'll wrap up their Sun Belt Conference road schedule on Sunday, Oct. 8 at Texas State with the match starting 1 p.m.

Louisiana is coming off a weekend home and away where they dropped their match in Lafayette against Coastal Carolina, 3-0, before heading to Atlanta, Georgia to face Georgia State where they came away with a big road point drawing the Panthers 0-0.

They're currently fourth in the conference with a record that sits at 5-5-2 (2-1-2 SBC) and they've got eight points in the conference with 17 points overall.

Right now sophomore goalkeeper Mackenzie Lee is leading the charge for the Cajuns, despite the result against Coastal Carolina, Lee sits third in the conference with a 0.94 goals against average and her .824 save percentage also places her alone in third place.  Lee's racked up three shutouts as well, which puts her tied for third and her overall record of 5-2-2 is a big piece of why the Cajuns are in a solid position as the season makes it final turn down the stretch.

Last week's SBC Offensive Player of the Week, senior Ashleigh Cade has put up respectable numbers as well as her three assists place her in a tie for third in the conference along with sitting in a fifth place tie with 0.25 assists per game.

ULM enters the Thursday matchup in last place in the conference standings, and their record sits at 1-11-1 (1-4-0 SBC) but the Warhawks did get themselves a big 2-0 upset against Coastal Carolina that they earned on Sept. 24.

All-time the Cajuns' record against ULM is 10-3-2 and they've won the last six out of seven matchups against ULM by a combined score of 21-6, and Louisiana won the last matchup between the two schools 1-0 in Lafayette on Oct. 16, 2016.

Louisiana's trip to Texas State is a big one, with the Bobcats within reachable distance of the Cajuns, sitting in second place in the conference with 12 points.  Texas State is coming off a weekend where they won both of their matches and they bring a three-match winning streak into Sunday's match.

Texas State won't play on Friday, before the Cajuns make the trip, so their record of 6-4-1 (4-1-0 SBC) is what the Bobcats will bring into Sunday's matchup.  All-time the Bobcats hold a 1-4-0 advantage over the Cajuns and Louisiana will be seeking their first ever win in San Marcos, Texas.
