Louisiana, Alabama Set for Top 25 Series at Lamson Park

LAFAYETTE – No. 18-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball is set to host No. 4 Alabama in a Top 25 weekend series at Lamson Park that is scheduled for Friday-Sunday, Feb. 17-19.

The series begins Friday at 5 p.m., and continues with single games on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.

This is the Crimson Tide's first visit to Lamson Park since March 2003.

Color themes have been set for each game. Fans are asked to wear red on Friday, white on Saturday and black on Sunday. The Ragin' Cajuns Store is selling customized shirts that coordinate with the color themes for each day and can be purchased in advance at the Johnston Street location or on gameday at Lamson Park.

Each day the first 250 fans will receive a Ragin' Cajuns bandana, courtesy of Home Bank.

Dr. Bryan Maggard, the newly appointed director of athletics for the Ragin' Cajuns Athletics Department, will be in attendance on Friday. He will deliver the ceremonial first pitch prior to the series opener.

On Saturday, there will be a pregame ceremony recognizing Ragin' Cajuns alums, and current Alabama coaches, Pat Murphy and Alyson Habetz. Murphy worked in the sports information office and also served as an assistant coach under Yvette Girouard from 1990-94 prior to becoming head coach at Alabama. Habetz played both softball and women's basketball for the Ragin' Cajuns (1990-95) and is a native of nearby Crowley.

Louisiana and Alabama are part of a group of only nine schools that have played in every NCAA Tournament since 2000. The group also includes: Arizona, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA and Washington.
