Ragin’ Cajuns Golf To Open Spring Slate At Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to open the 2017 spring slate at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate starting Monday at the par-72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.

"We are excited to start the spring season," head coach Theo Sliman said. "We are starting the spring season a little bit later than usual, but it's a good thing with us playing a week before our home event. This is a good event because it allows all eight of our guys to get in 54 holes of tournament golf before the Louisiana Classics. I know the guys are eager to get back out on the course and compete."

Play gets underway at 8 a.m. both days with a shotgun start. Rounds one and two are scheduled for Monday, while the final round tees off Tuesday morning.

Abilene Christian, Alcorn State, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Georgia State, Illinois State, Kansas State, Louisiana, Louisville, Mississippi State, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas State, West Virginia and Western Kentucky make up the 15-team field.

Freshman Aron Juliusson paces Louisiana with a 73.75 average through four events. Juliusson is joined by Fernando Cruz Valle, Ragnar Gardarsson, Thomas Strandemo and Ryan Desormeaux in the starting lineup. Triston Elston, Jack Tolson and Grant Welch are slated to compete in the USA Individual Tournament on the par-71, 7,158-yard Magnolia Grove Falls Golf Course.

"This is a great golf course that will test where we are both physically and mentally," Sliman said. "I am expecting all of our guys to take advantage of a great opportunity this week."

The Cajuns are paired with Chattanooga and Southern Miss for the first two rounds. Live scoring for the event is available on Golfstat.com.
