Ragin' Cajuns Look To Extend Win Streak At Appalachian State

Boone, N.C. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team seeks a fifth straight win on Thursday when it faces Appalachian State at the George M. Holmes Convocation Center.
 
Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and live statistics are available at RaginCajuns.com.
 
Louisiana (15-8, 9-5 SBC), which is coming off a 65-59 win at ULM on Saturday, is currently tied with Texas State for fourth place in the Sun Belt Conference. The top four teams earn a bye in the Sun Belt tournament in March.
 
Appalachian State (10-16, 5-10 SBC) is coming off a 54-41 defeat at South Alabama on Saturday and has lost three straight games.
 
The Cajuns are averaging 69.0 points per game while holding their opponents to 66.5 points. As a team, Louisiana enters Thursday's game shooting 41.7% (587-for-1406) from the field and 31.8% (121-for-380) from the three-point line.
 
Louisiana is led in scoring by senior guard Jaylyn Gordon. Gordon ranks first in the Sun Belt Conference in points per game (18.3) and three-point field goals made per game (2.8). She leads the nation in minutes played per game (38.5).
 
Junior Simone Fields is third in the league in scoring (15.5 ppg) and second in field goal percentage (.564). Freshman Jasmine Thomas (9.6 ppg), junior Troi Swain (8.8 ppg), junior Nekia Jones (6.2 ppg) and senior Gabby Alexander (5.4 ppg) are all key contributors for the Cajuns.
 
Appalachian State is averaging 62.5 points per game while allowing their opponents 65.5 points. As a team, they are shooting 37% (596-for-1611) from the field and 27.7% (92-for-332) from the behind the arc.
 
The Mountaineers are led in scoring by junior guard Madi Story (13.3 ppg). Senior Joi Jones (13.0 ppg) and sophomore Q. Murray (10.0 ppg) also lead App. State.
 
Louisiana and Appalachian State are tied 2-2 in the all-time series. In the four meetings between the two teams, the home team has won each contest. In the most recent meeting, the Mountaineers defeated the Cajuns, 76-59 on Feb. 4, 2016 in Boone, N.C.
 
Louisiana will return to action when it faces Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 12 p.m. in Conway, S.C.
