Ragin' Cajuns Look To Build On Win Streak On Saturday

Libaud, Perez, Frasier with team-best five wins in singles play in 2017
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team looks to build on its seven-match win streak when it plays host to Southland Conference member Incarnate Word on Saturday at Cajun Courts.

Louisiana (7-2) increased its winning streak to seven matches after posting a pair of identical 4-1 victories over Xavier of New Orleans last week. Three players – Arthur Libaud, Eric Perez and Jamie Fraser – have won a team-high five matches in singles play for Louisiana this season with freshman Pearse Dolan posting a combined 4-0 record in the top half of the lineup.

Vlad Kramarov and freshman Elio Lago have each posted 3-0 records in singles play this spring for the Ragin' Cajuns with freshman Silvio Cocito-Monoc unbeaten in a pair of matches.

The doubles team of Fraser and Libaud has won six of seven matches this spring for Louisiana with the tandem of Dolan and Kramarov recording a 5-2 mark at No. 1 doubles.

UIW (2-2) opened the season with losses to Baylor and Grand Canyon before picking up its first wins of the season against Prairie View (Jan. 27) and UTSA (Jan. 28). The Cardinals took the doubles point against UTSA before claiming five of six singles matches in the 6-1 win over their cross-town rival.

"Incarnate Word last week beat the 2015 Conference USA Champions, UTSA, 6-1, so we are expecting a good match this Saturday," head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "Our guys just need to stay in the moment and come out and regurgitate the process they have been working on all week. If we do that then we can gauge the direction we are going.

"It will be a fun day and our guys are looking forward to playing Saturday .... We hope we have a big turn out Saturday."
