Gordon Scores 29 As Cajuns Defeat South Alabama, 62-38

LAFAYETTE- Jaylyn Gordon scored 29 points and Simone Fields added 14 points to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns to a 62-38 win over South Alabama on Thursday at the Cajundome.
Louisiana (13-8, 7-5 SBC) took a 7-4 lead when Gordon knocked down a three-pointer with 7:15 left in the first quarter.
South Alabama (7-15, 2-9 SBC) didn't have much of an answer to the Cajuns fast-paced offense and trailed 18-10 at the end of the first frame.
The Cajuns led 28-17 after Nekia Jones made a layup with 6:50 to go in the second quarter. Fields made a layup to give Louisiana a 36-20 lead with 2:21 left in the period.
Gordon connected on a jumper with nine seconds left in the quarter and Louisiana led 38-22 at halftime.
Louisiana jumped in front 43-26 when Gordon made a short jumper while being fouled and knocked down the three throw with 6:40 left in the third quarter.
Gordon's acrobatic three-pointer at the buzzer gave the Cajuns a 49-30 lead at the end of the third frame.
The Cajuns were able to hold the Jaguars to eight points in the final period and led by as many as 24 points on the way to securing the win.
Chyna Ellis and Candice Williams led South Alabama with eight points each.
Louisiana will return to action when it hosts another fast-paced offense in Troy in the Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Saturday at 5 p.m.
