Louisiana to host LSUA on Sunday at 11 a.m.
LAFAYETTE — The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team defeated Grambling on Saturday at Cajun Courts to extend its winning streak to three straight matches.
Intermittent rain showers frequently interrupted play and caused delays, but Louisiana (4-6) did not let the weather negatively affect their success on the court, earning four straight-set victories to seal their third straight win.
Due to the potential inclement weather forecast, singles were played first, with doubles only coming if the match wasn't clinched at the end of singles, but the Cajuns didn't need to get that far to clinch the match. Abby Johnson tallied the first point for the Cajuns with her 6-1, 6-0 win on Court 4, and the rest of the team shortly followed.
Yasmine Ansari was next for the Cajuns, scoring a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6. Carla Ortega then earned a 6-0, 6-2 dominant win at No. 5 to pick up her third win in a row.
Alexandra Way defeated Tanyaradzwa Magunje 6-3, 6-0 on Court 1 to clinch the match for the Cajuns.
Louisiana returns to Cajun Courts on Sunday (March 12) to face LSU Alexandria. The match is set for 11 a.m. and admission is free.
