Cajuns to hold first scrimmage on Tuesday
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football team wrapped up its second week of spring practice on Saturday, working out in full gear for nearly two hours at the Ragin' Cajuns Practice Facility.
Â
The Ragin' Cajuns continued installation of their offensive scheme under new offensive coordinator Will Hall while continue to develop on defense under new defensive coordinator Mike Lucas. Louisiana spent a portion of its workout focusing on special teams fundamentals before spending time working on its red zone and goal-line situations.
Â
"In some areas, we're doing pretty good," head coach Mark Hudspeth said. "Our main focus (of spring football) is trying to develop some young kids. A lot of times when you have some veteran guys you're trying to keep healthy, you're trying to work some young kids and provide some depth and compete for some positions."
Â
Looking to replace departed linebackers Otha Peters and Tre'maine Lightfoot, the Ragin' Cajuns have had T.J. Posey, Jacques Boudreaux, Shay LaPorte and Karson Block seeing time in the middle.
Â
Louisiana will return to action on Tuesday (March 16) when it holds its first scrimmage of spring workouts at 3:50 p.m. The Ragin' Cajuns will hold their annual Red-White Spring Game on April 8 and will open the 2017 season on Sept. 2 against Southeastern Louisiana.
Â
The renewal process for Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football season tickets is currently underway and fans are encouraged to renew their tickets for the 2017 season by April 17.
Â
Season tickets, beginning at $110, are available for purchase. Reserved and chairback seating is available for $135 per seat with the Family 5 Pack available for $405.
