LAFAYETTE, La. – The 15th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team is set to open a five-game week with a pair of midweek contests at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park starting with a matchup against Houston on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Cajuns also will host Tulane on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Russo Park.

The contest with the Green Wave was originally scheduled for April 18, but due to a rainout in New Orleans, La. earlier this month the game was moved up to March 22. Fans are asked to use their Tulane tickets for the April 18 date for entry to the contest.

Both games will be broadcast on ESPN 1420-AM with Jay Walker calling the action. Fans can also watch the free live stream on RaginCajuns.com with Dan McDonald providing commentary.

Louisiana saw a drop in the polls after a 2-2 week moving down one spot to No. 15 in the Baseball America Top 25 and to No. 16 in the D1Baseball rankings. The Cajuns also fell to No. 22 in the USA Today Coaches poll and dropped out of the Collegiate Baseball rankings.

The Ragin' Cajuns (11-6, 2-1 SBC) are coming off of their fourth series win of the year taking two of three games from Appalachian State. Louisiana opened the weekend with a 3-0 shutout of the Mountaineers behind another strong pitching performance from Gunner Leger. Following a 12-4 loss that evened the weekend, the Cajuns claimed the series on a 4-3 walk-off victory with junior catcher Handsome Monica coming through with a squeeze bunt in the ninth.

Freshman right-hander Jack Burk (0-2, 3.46 ERA) will make the start for the Cajuns on Tuesday, while the starter for Wednesday has yet to be announced.

The Cougars (13-5) will start left-hander Trey Cumbie (2-0, 1.33 ERA). Cumbie tossed 6.1 innings allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits in a win against McNeese last week. Tulane (6-13) has yet to announce its starter for the Wednesday night contest.

Houston leads the all-time series with the Ragin' Cajuns 39-14-1. Louisiana has won its last three games at home against the Cougars including a 6-5 walk-off victory in 2015. The Cajuns are 6-11 all-time against Houston with head coach Tony Robichaux at the helm.

The Cougars come into the contest on a five-game win streak including a 2-0 victory at No. 10 Baylor. Houston swept Alabama State this past weekend by a combined score of 33-14. UH is 3-1 in midweek games this year with the only loss coming at home to Houston Baptist, 3-2.

Offensively, Houston is hitting .290 with 26 doubles, eight triples and 15 home runs. Jake Scheiner has gotten on to a hot start offensively for UH ranking top 10 in the nation in average (.456), home runs (8), RBI (27) and slugging percentage (.941).

The Cajuns hold a narrow 46-43 lead in the all-time series with Tulane after splitting a pair of games a year ago. In the last meeting, the Ragin' Cajuns jumped out to an early 7-0 and went on to win 9-2 at The "Tigue". The Cajuns are 15-17 against the Green Wave with head coach Tony Robichaux at the helm including a 6-10 mark in New Orleans.

Tulane will face McNeese at home on Tuesday night before making the trip over Wednesday. The Green Wave have won three of their last four contests including a series win over Columbia this past weekend.

Hunter Williams paces a squad that is hitting .235 as a team with a .342 average including six doubles, three homers and 12 RBI. Jarret DeHart has a team-best five home runs and 20 RBI.

Following the midweek home games, Louisiana continues Sun Belt action as the squad heads to Troy for a three-game series starting Friday at 6 p.m.
