Louisiana secures No. 7 seed, will face Little Rock on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

LAFAYETTE – Jay Wright, playing in his final regular-season home game in a Ragin' Cajuns uniform, and Frank Bartley each scored 22 points and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns rallied in the second half to defeat regular-season champion UT Arlington, 83-81, in the Sun Belt Conference finale for both teams on Saturday at the Cajundome.

Bryce Washington scored 12 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for Louisiana (20-11, 10-8 SBC), which secured the No. 7 seed in next week's Sun Belt Conference Tournament in New Orleans. The Ragin' Cajuns will face No. 10-seeded Little Rock (15-16), on Wednesday at 5 p.m., at Lakefront Arena.

Johnathan Stove added 10 points for the Ragin' Cajuns, who recorded their third 20-win season in the past four years, and outscored UTA (24-7, 14-4 SBC), 46-38, in the second half.

Louisiana trailed 43-37 at halftime before Stove and Bartley tied the game up with 3-pointers on consecutive possessions. Bartley converted a three-point play that gave the Ragin' Cajuns a 46-45 lead with 18:09 remaining before a bucket by Wright with 16:53 left gave Louisiana the lead for good, 48-47.

UTA closed to within 73-71 on two free throws by Kevin Hervey with 3:20 remaining, but the Mavs would go scoreless for nearly three minutes as Justin Miller hit a free throw, Bartley scored on a layup and Wright hit two free throws for a 78-71 lead with less than a minute to go.

Hervey, who scored 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final half minute, the last that cut the Louisiana lead to 82-80 with 12 seconds remaining, but Wright made one of two free throws with three seconds remaining and Stove rebounded a deliberate missed free throw by Hervey to help seal the win.

Louisiana finished 17-for-28 (60.7 percent) from the floor in the second half and finished 30-for-64 (46.9 percent) for the game. The Ragin' Cajuns held a 39-35 advantage on the boards while scoring 27 points off 15 UTA turnovers.

Erick Neal and Drew Charles added 10 points each for UTA with Jorge Bilbao pulling down eight rebounds.
