Ragin' Cajuns To Face ULM In Sun Belt Tournament Opener

New Orleans – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team opens up Sun Belt Conference tournament play by facing ULM on Tuesday at Lakefront Arena.
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and can be heard in the Lafayette area on ESPN 1420 AM, along with on the internet via the Radio Pup app. Live statistics are available at RaginCajuns.com.
Louisiana (17-10, 11-7 SBC) is the No. 5 seed in the tournament and faces No. 12 seed ULM for the third time this season. The winner will move on to face No. 4 seed Texas State in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 9 at 2 p.m.
ULM (6-23, 3-15 SBC), which is coming off a 61-59 win over Texas State on Saturday, fell to Louisiana in both of the previous two meetings this season.
The Cajuns are led in scoring by senior guard Jaylyn Gordon (18.1 ppg). Gordon leads the Sun Belt Conference in points per game, three-point field goals made per game (2.7) and minutes played per game (38.4).

Junior Simone Fields is sixth in the league in scoring (14.7 ppg) and third in field goal percentage (.548). Junior Troi Swain (9.9 ppg), freshman Jasmine Thomas (8.9 ppg), junior Nekia Jones (7.0 ppg) and senior Gabby Alexander (5.8 ppg) are all key contributors for the Cajuns.

The Warhawks are led in scoring by junior guard Alexis Collins (12.4 ppg). Junior Gabriella Cortez (10.3 ppg) and senior Andreanna Jackson (8.7 ppg) also lead the team in scoring.

ULM leads Louisiana 43-12 in the all-time series. However, the Cajuns have won the past five contests with the Warhawks. In the last meeting, Louisiana defeated ULM 65-59 on Feb. 18, 2017 in Monroe, La.

Semifinals are held on Saturday, March 11 with the championship game being played on Sunday, March 12. All games of the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Championship will be played at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans and broadcast live on ESPN3.
