Cajuns Fall To Penn In Men's Tennis, 6-1

Louisiana heads to face Harvard, Brown at end of month
LAFAYETTE — Arthur Libaud shined for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team, earning a hard-fought 4-6, 6-1, 13-11 win at No. 1 and a close doubles match with teammate Jamie Fraser, but Penn outfought the Cajuns to win the doubles point and eventually claim a 6-1 victory on Wednesday at Cajun Courts.
Before Libaud's win in what ended up being the final match to finish, the Quakers had already clinched the match with five singles wins on the other courts. Louisiana falls to 11-7 with the loss.
Earning the doubles point was anything but easy for Penn, as the matches on Courts 2 and 3 went to tiebreaks.
Libaud and Fraser improved to 12-2 as a doubles team on the year, as well as 6-0 at the No. 2 spot, and their win evened the doubles score at 1-1. But Penn's duo of Thomas Spratt and Josh Pompan edged out the Cajuns team of Elio Lago and Vlad Kramarov to clinch the doubles point.
In singles, both the matches for Libaud and Coleman Wahlborg went to third-set super tiebreakers.
Wahlborg started out strong, winning the first set, and even had a 10-9 match point in the tiebreaker, but eventually was defeated in a 1-6, 6-3, 12-10 win for Nicholai Westergaard.
Louisiana travels to Cambridge, Mass., to face Harvard on March 24 as it continues the three-match stretch against Ivy League schools.
