LAFAYETTE, La. –The 15th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team returns to action on Friday at 6 p.m. as the squad hosts Saint Peter's in the final non-conference series of the year at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
Game two of the series is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, while the teams close out the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Fans can watch all three contests on the free video stream available on RaginCajuns.com with Dan McDonald making the call. The games will also be broadcast live on News Talk 96.5 KPEL-FM with Jay Walker calling the action.
The Cajuns (6-4) had the midweek off after the Tulane contest was cancelled due to weather on Tuesday. Louisiana has won both of its weekend series this season after taking two of three games from Southern Miss last weekend at Russo Park.
Junior left-hander Gunner Leger (2-1, 1.69 ERA) was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week earlier this coming off of his second straight stellar performance on the mound. Leger it tabbed to make his fourth start of the year on Friday, while sophomore right-hander Nick Lee (3-0, 2.50 ERA) looks to remain perfect on the season on Saturday. The Ragin' Cajuns are 18-1 in games started by Lee in the last two seasons.
Sophomore Hogan Harris (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his weekend debut on Sunday. Harris tossed five hitless innings at Northwestern State in his only start this year. Saint Peter's has yet to announce its rotation for the weekend.
Offensively, the Cajuns are hitting .259 with 12 doubles, two triples and four home runs. Freshman Todd Lott has a team-best .394 average with two doubles, a home run and eight RBI.
This is the first ever meeting between Louisiana and Saint Peter's. The Peacocks (0-1) saw their first action of the season last night falling to LIU Brooklyn 12-10 in eight innings. Saint Peter's had 11 hits in the contest led by Nick Ciocco who went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs.
