Louisiana, Georgia State meet again in Sun Belt Conference Tournament

NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team returns to action on Friday as it faces familiar foe Georgia State in quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Championships at Lakefront Arena.
 
Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. The game will be available on ESPN3 with Matt Stewart (pxp), Bob Donewald (color) and Kristen Bedard (sideline) on the call. The game can be heard in the Lafayette area on KHXT 107.9-FM and ESPN 1420 AM, along with worldwide on the RadioPup app. Live video and statistics will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
 
Louisiana (21-11), the No. 7 seed in the tournament, increased its current winning streak to seven games after rallying past defending league and tournament champion Little Rock, 78-71, on Wednesday. Jay Wright scored 18 of his game-high 24 points in the second half as Louisiana made 32 of 38 free throws in the game, including 15 of 16 in the final three minutes.
 
Justin Miller scored 20 points for Louisiana with Bryce Washington adding 12 points and grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. Johnathan Stove added 11 points for the Ragin' Cajuns, including going 7-for-7 from the free throw line.
 
No. 2-seeded Georgia State (19-11) swept the season series against Louisiana, including an 85-82 win on Feb. 4 in Atlanta. Friday's meeting marks the third between the schools in the Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Championships in the past four years.
 
The winner will advance to the semifinals on Saturday at 2 p.m., and will face the winner of No. 3-seeded Georgia State and No. 6 Troy.
