MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to tee off at the 2017 Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship beginning on Sunday at the par-71, 6,900-yard course Raven Golf Club at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

Teams will play 36-holes on Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m. with groups teeing off of holes one and ten. Following round one, teams will take a short break before returning to the course for round two.

Round three will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Monday and an individual champion will be crowned following the third round. The top four teams from stroke play will advance to the match play event scheduled for Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.

"We are excited for the start of the Sun Belt Championships," head coach Theo Sliman said. "We have three seniors in the lineup, and this may well be their last event for us. I hope that's not the case. I have a lot of confidence that this team can win here. We need to come out and have a strong performance and find ourselves in the top four teams come match play if we want to have a chance to extend our season."

This year's event will include live video coverage from the Sun Belt. The league will broadcast live from the Raven with coverage of the No. 10 tee and No. 13 green. Fans can access this video by visiting www.SunBeltSports.org. Live scoring will be available through GolfStat.com as well as on the Men's Golf Championship Central page.

Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Little Rock, Louisiana, South Alabama, Texas State, Troy, ULM and UT Arlington make up the 12-team field.

The Ragin' Cajuns will have Fernando Cruz Valle, Ragnar Gardarsson, Aron Juliusson, Thomas Strandemo and Triston Elston in the lineup for the championship.

Cruz Valle has finished in the top 25 twice at the Sun Belt Championships including a fourth place finish in his freshman campaign. The senior paces the squad with a 72.81 scoring average through 27 rounds.

Juliusson is second on the squad in scoring average at 73.59 with five top 25 performances this season.
