Louisiana to wrap up regular season on Saturday vs. ULM
ARLINGTON, Texas – The No. 71-ranked doubles team of Astrid Gehre and Anna Wichert picked up a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles and UT Arlington claimed three straight-set matches in singles play to earn a 4-0 victory over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team on Friday at the UTA Tennis Center.
Louisiana, which will wrap up the regular-season on Saturday against ULM at 11 a.m., fell to 8-9 overall and 1-3 in Sun Belt Conference play.
Gehre and Wichert defeated the team of Alexandra Way and India Shiaelis, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles before UTA (9-8, 3-0 SBC) clinched the doubles point as Valeria Lopez and Agustina Serio defeated Kelly Drew and Carla Ortega, 6-4, on Court 3.
In singles play, Angeles de los Rios snapped Way's six-match win streak with a 6-1, 6-2 decision at Court 1. Wichert picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ortega on Court 5 before Carla Cerdan Vives defeated freshman Yasmine Ansari on Court 6, 6-3, 6-2, to clinch the match.
