Beyer Finishes Third In Decathlon; Cajuns Third After Day Two Of SBC Outdoor

ARLINGTON, Texas – Franz Beyer finished third overall in the men's decathlon while Beau Robinson, Dylan Heck and Jacob Chicola each placed in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team finished in third place after the second day of the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Maverick Stadium.
Lindsay LaGarde earned a seventh-place finish in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase as the Ragin' Cajuns women's team ended the second day in eighth place with 11 points.
The final day of the SBC Outdoor Championships will begin at 10 a.m., with competition in the men's discus. The men's pole vault and women's discus will begin at noon before running events start at 5 p.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay.

Beyer, who led after the first day, finished with 6,735 points to finish behind UT Arlington's Christian Schiemann (7,019) and Hayden Hampton of Arkansas State (6,745). In the women's heptathlon, Alex Morrow scored a career-best 4,296 points to finish 10th overall for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Robinson, who finished seventh overall in the steeplechase at the 2015 SBC Outdoor meet with a personal-best 9:26.97, finished fifth overall for the Ragin' Cajuns after crossing the finish line in 9:36.31. Heck finished in sixth place for Louisiana after clocking a time of 9:41.53 with Chicola finishing eighth in 9:56.37.
LaGarde, in her first steeplechase competition since 2015, clocked a personal-best time of 11:41.71 to finish seventh for Louisiana. Senior Kayla Thompson qualified for the finals of the women's 200-meter dash after posting the sixth-fastest time (24.30) in the preliminaries. In the women's 400-meter dash, Hannah Siegmund placed 12th overall after posting a time of 56.41.
Hanoj Carter qualified for both the men's 100- and 200-meters dash for Louisiana after posting times of 10.42 and 20.95. Stanley Limoh qualified for the men's 800-meter dash after finishing fourth overall with a time of 1:51.80.
Spencer Nezat finished 12th overall for Louisiana in the men's shot put (48-11) while Ricky Theyard was 13th in the long jump (22-1 ½). In the women's high jump, Lindsey Harmon finished ninth overall (5-5 ¼) with Tamela Young finishing 12th in the shot put (45-1 ¾) and Taylor Walker 15th in the long jump (18-4 ¼).
