Cajuns To Open Competition At NCAA East Regional On Thursday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team will begin action at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary on Thursday as Hunter Stelly and Hanoj Carter open competition in their respective events at the UK Track and Field Complex.

Action begins at 10:30 a.m. CDT, on Thursday before Stelly will compete in the men's javelin at 11 a.m. Running events will start at 3:30 p.m. CDT with Carter set to compete in the preliminaries of the men's 100-meter dash at 5:55 p.m.

Carter, who will look to advance to Friday's finals of the 100-meter dash at 5:15 p.m., will compete in the preliminaries of the men's 200-meter dash, later in the day at 6:55 p.m.

Ricky Theyard, the Sun Belt Conference champion in the men's triple jump, will begin competition on Saturday at 2 p.m. CDT with Sun Belt Conference high jump champion Dionte Heath and freshman Damon Guidry scheduled to compete at 5 p.m.

Live results and live video for the three-day meet is available at RaginCajuns.com. Each event qualified 48 individuals, with the top 12 finishers advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Eugene, Ore., June 7-10.
